About

I’ve always loved books, always. At this moment, I currently own 1,342 books. Paper books, not digital. I think I learned to read when I was four. I’ll read anything that is engaging. Literary novels, romance, fantasy, young adult, mystery, thrillers; you name it, and I’ve probably read it. Then, one day when I was twenty-one, I finished reading Jewels of the Sun by Nora Roberts. I loved it. I didn’t want it to end. It had made me happy. And I realized, “Hey. I want to make other people feel like that.”

That was ten years ago. I started and stopped six different novels before I finished my first manuscript in 2008. I now have four finished manuscripts under my belt, one of which (a YA fantasy entitled Drive Back the Darkness) will be published in September 2012. The fourth manuscript (a contemporary YA)  landed me my first agent, Michele Rubin of Writers House. Sadly, after 22 years in the business, Michele decided to leave. My new agent is Bree Ogden of D4EO Literary Agency!

Also in the few years I have acquired a husband and a son. They are the joy of my life; I can’t imagine living without them. I get to be at home with the baby, and I get to have time to write. Life can’t get much better then this!

UPDATE: There’s a new baby on the way! Due date: Christmas Day 2012!

  1. Hey! Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier.

I thought I’d come see what you’re up to and, I have to say, I love your description above. Except for the specific book, I could have written your first paragraph (except I’ve been struggling for the words and you came up with them!).

I look forward to seeing how another mom tackles writing while “at home” (I don’t know about you, but I seem to be in my car more than my house).

  2. AmyMarie, I’m so happy you stopped by my blog. I’m looking forward to keeping up with you here.
Good luck on everything and congrats on becoming a mom. It’s the best thing ever….along with getting published!
I’m rooting for you to get it all. ;)
